Hidden among dense foliage and located with the Baa Atoll UNESCO-protected Biosphere Reserve, Soneva Fushi inspires the imagination. The award-winning resort truly defines the essence of barefoot luxury with Robinson Crusoe simplicity. The resort’s down-to-earth personality is reflected in its nature-inspired architecture. If the experiences are magical, the philosophy is simple; no news, no shoes.
Located in the Baa Atoll, Kunfunadhoo Island is one of the largest islands in the Maldives. The resort can be reached by a scenic 30 minute seaplane flight direct from Male International Airport or a 12 minute speedboat ride for guests scheduled on domestic flights at the nearby Dharavandhoo Airport. Soneva Fushi has a private airport lounge exclusively for Soneva guests at the seaplane terminal.
Arriving by our private sea plane from the international airport in Male, you glimpse the string-of-pearl atolls – the breathtaking rings of islands that make up the Maldives – their gleaming ivory sands contrasting the sapphire blue waters of the Indian Ocean. Soneva Fushi truly is a jewel of an island with pure white beaches, picture-perfect palm trees and a reef alive in shimmering colours.
Privacy and seclusion are the great advantages of Soneva Fushi. Unlike some Maldivian islands which are little more than sandbars, Kunfanadhoo is one of the largest islands in the Maldives at 1,400 metres long and 400 metres wide with dense tropical vegetation. Our private residences are hidden away and can barely be seen by the sea, despite being only a few steps from the beach.
There are no other resorts on the island, which is located half an hour by seaplane to the north of Male, making it extremely easy to cast away on our shores. You will be gloriously stranded in luxury and a world of imagination only moments after you touch down at the country’s international airport.
