Activities and excursions

The capital of the Marquesas Islands Nuku Hiva is rich with natural treasures. Explore them on unusual excursions that will discover new unexplored places for you.

Half-day excursions –morning or afternoon:

  • Taiohae and Koueva. Visit of the villages in 4х4 vehicle - archeological sites, artisans’ fair.
  • Hakatea Bay. A boat excursion to discover beautiful Hakatea bay. Hike around the very colorful village of Hakaui.
  • Taipivai Valley. 4х4 excursion retracing the steps of Herman Melville, hike to archeological site of ancient islanders, discovery of the small village of Hooumi.
  • Hiking in Tehaatiki. 5,5-kilometer hike on the island’s ridges offer unbelievable views over Taiohae Bay and the entire south coast of Nuku Hiva. Watch marine and terrestrial birds as well as wild goats.

Entire day excursions:

  • Hatiheu Valley. This is a cultural excursion in a 4х4 vehicle. On the north shore of the island discover many beautiful views, archeological treasures and lunch nature. Lunch is included.
  • The Hakaui Waterfall. This is a boat excursion and hike (2,5 hours one way) on the south side of the island. Basaltic cliffs, the Hakaui waterfall is one of the highest in Polynesia and panoramic landscapes of the bay. Picnic is included.
  • Anaho Beach. Ride on the north shore to Hatiheu and hike to Anaho (1hour one way) - wonderful nature, soft white sand and a picnic.
  • The “Peaks and Cliffs” Hike. 12-kilometer hike on the heights of Aakapa Valley and Hatiheu takes you to the heart of the tropical forest. This excursions through the hillsides and lush valleys is a must for nature lovers. Picnic is included.

Transfer: it takes 90 minutes by car to get to Nuku Hiva Pearl Lodge from the airport.

Great views from infinity pool and great bar

Perfect day off the ship!
