Thulhagiri Island Resort & Spa Maldives is situated in the heart of North Male Atoll. It is a tranquil place with azure water and coral sand for romantic newly-wed stay. The local philosophy is to walk around the island barefoot. Although the island is located not far from heavily populated capital Male, the nature here is ultimate and untouched by civilization. Thousands of tiny birds live in the palms, singing to wake up guests every morning. Primarily natural materials were used for hotel interior design, mainly the bamboo. The thatched bungalow roofs hide the guests from the Maldivian sun. The reef around the island is an excellent spot for snorkeling.

Resort restaurants and bars

The island is quite small with just one restaurant and two bars. Do not expect to wear fashionable high heels at breakfast or dinner. Even the restaurant shares the barefoot concept. There is no other way here due to sandy surroundings.

Main restaurant is the only available restaurant, but guests will never be starving. The Austrian chef strives to satisfy every guest. The working hours are from 7:30 am to 9 pm.

Sand bar offers aromatic coffee, cocktails, the best wine and craft beer. It is a pleasure to stay at the bar after breakfast or enjoy good company in the evening. Musical groups perform here every week, dancing and crab races are organized here too. Working hours are from 7:30 am till midnight.

Beach bar is a spot to sip a cocktail or an alcohol-free mocktail at the vast ocean breezed beach. Isn’t it a great way to start a bright day in paradise? It is open from 10 am to 6 pm.

Coconut SPA

Spa procedures will help you to relax and renew energy. Coconut SPA offers beauty therapy, combining Maldivian and Balinese traditions.

SPA center facilities:

• Two couple rooms with a bathtub for Aromatherapy Flower Bath
• Ventilated single room
• Hair treatment room
• Manicure and pedicure area

Treatments:

• Massage. Classic, Balinese, shiatsu, Swedish, warm stones massage, four hands massage, Indian with warm oil. The last one is well-known as Ayurveda. It is just a shortlist of techniques offered here.
• Body treatment. Scrubs and wraps, special after sun care, it includes everything for body rejuvenation and protection.
• Anti-cellulite treatment includes scrubbing, mud mask and massage. The therapists use pure essential oils of basil, fennel and lemon, crushed volcanic stones and seaweed. It is recommended to pass a 5 treatment package for a better result, taken one per day.
• Facial treatment includes refreshing, Asian natural care products and a deep cleansing. Exclusive facial, head, neck and shoulders treatment add to result.
• Hair treatment includes Aloe Vera or avocado mask, head and shoulders massage.
• Hands and feet treatment offers nourishing cream application, essential oils, manicure and pedicure.

Working hours are from 10 am till 1 pm and from 3 to 8 pm.

• Diving. You can explore the ocean and its citizens as long as your air supply permits at the house reef right near the island. If you want to enjoy more exotic and extreme dive, hire a boat at the SUB AQUA dive center. The school offers trainings for both beginners and experienced divers. You can start to explore the Indian Ocean from snorkeling. The qualified instructor will show you how to dive. Certified divers may submerge up to 30 meters, but not longer than an hour. Diving alone is forbidden. They offer night dives for real ocean views admirers. There is also an exotic “manta madness” experience for those who dream of seeing these gigantic sea devils. Mantas can be seen both at the ocean depth and resting at the surface.
• Water sports. Magic Surf & Sail team offers a great range of possibilities for wave riders, such as stand up paddling, windsurfing, catamaran sailing, canoeing and water-skiing. You can offer either group or individual service.
• Daily excursions. As far as the island is close to Male, the guests are invited to visit the capital. Although there are 1196 Maldivian islands, only 202 are inhabited. Most of the Maldivians live in the capital. You have an excellent opportunity to explore the Islamic culture here. It takes a 45-minute ferry ride to get to Male. If you want to enjoy a less crowded excursion, take a Dhoni to get to Himafushi. You can meet the sunrise or sunset, accompanied by dolphins or arrange a night fishing experience.
• Sports ground and gym. For those who tend to keep fit, there are a fitness center and a gym. You can play beach volleyball and soccer outdoors or chess, darts, ping-pong at the games center.

Wedding ceremony

The island is an excellent place for couples to recite the vows along with boduberu dancing rhythm. The ceremony starts from morning greeting the couple with flower garlands and bridal bouquet. The groom and the bride plant a tree together as a symbol of their marriage. Afterwards the wedding ceremony with vows reciting takes place. The newly-weds take their first sea voyage as husband and wife and later have a romantic candle-lit dinner at the beach. Remember, the Maldivian wedding ceremony, although beautiful and unforgettable, is purely symbolic and is not legally recognized.

Getting here: the island is just 13 km away from the international airport in Male. The speedboat trip from the airport to the resort takes only 20 minutes and is organized by the resort.
