Bali boasts a world-famous elephant sanctuary, offering a unique experience of getting up close and personal with these amazing animals. This remarkable sanctuary is located deep in the cultural capital of Ubud, surrounded by lush Balinese vegetation. The park covers 4.5 hectares and features meticulously designed conditions for approximately 30 Sumatran elephants. Mason Elephant opened in 1997 as an elephant rescue center. This extraordinary park challenged the destructive deforestation and poaching that had led to the decline of Sumatran elephant populations.

Awards and achievements
Mason Elephant Park & Lodge is the first certified park in Asia, owned by the number one tour operator, Mason Adventures, with nearly 30 years of experience developing tourism in Bali. Today, the park has received numerous awards and is also the only specialized rescue center in Bali and home to the island's largest herd of endangered Sumatran elephants.
Over the years, the park has already seen the birth of six healthy elephants. It's worth noting that none of the elephants living in the park were captured in the wild. All were rescued from detention camps in Sumatra, where living conditions were devastating. Over the years, the park has organized three rescue operations, transporting elephants from several Sumatran camps to Bali, a distance of over 1,700 kilometers, using trucks and ferries.
The park's managing director, Nigel Mason, focuses on ensuring the animals have a comfortable and happy life, creating all the necessary conditions for a natural environment, and maintaining the elephants' health.
