Gan Island, on which a 4-star resort is located, combines a unique beauty and an intriguing history. Until 1976 it was the British Royal Air Force base, and today it greets its guests with swaying palm trees and beach cafes.   • Vaivaru Restaurant is the main restaurant at the resort with a pool view. The serene setting makes it the perfect spot for lazy meals. A variety of Western, Asian, and Oriental cuisines, offered at the buffet every day, will be appreciated by the gastronomic enthusiasts. The southernmost atoll in the Maldives is also reputed as the atoll with the most delicious culinary delicacies. On special occasions guests are treated to the finest delicacies, such as Addu Kukulhu Reha - chicken curry, which is made using the special Addu Havaadhu, a mix of spices, which are only available in Addu Atoll.

Fun leisure time

With bicycles to leisurely cycle through the scenery, excursions and fishing, as well as comfortable air-conditioned vans with experienced drivers to cruise around the adjacent islands - you may explore the exotic corners at your own pace. The historic sights of the island include the military memorial, built by the British on Gan Island, and Maradhoo building, which the British military used as the Armory during the war.

  • Diving and snorkeling. Diving here is absolutely wonderful! At the bottom of the sea there is a sunken ship. Addu Atoll can also boast of pristine coral reefs because this region in the Maldives is the only one that hasn’t been impacted by the global discoloration of corals in 1998. This is why you shall hurry up to rent scuba gear and a snorkeling mask, take an experienced instructor with you and explore the unique underwater world!
  • Excursions. Gan Island as well as neighboring islands are very beautiful! You will be impressed by the mangroves, exotic birds that can be found only here! Rent a bike, board a steamboat, rent a boat for fishing - generally speaking, do not waste your time because there is so much to see! Also, the resort provides culinary tours and tours within the atoll to learn local culture. Remember: you are on the last inhabited atoll on the edge of lush lands overlooking the magnificent Indian Ocean far away from the equator.
  • Water sports. For the most adventurous guests there is water skiing, for those who prefer a quieter time on the water there are canoe rides and paddle boats. A qualified team of instructors is available at the resort to ensure that your time on the water is safe and fun filled.
  • Sports grounds and game zones. Squash, volleyball, billiards, badminton, table tennis and tennis, darts - make sure you have enough time and strength to do it all!

Serena Spa encompasses traditional methods and natural secrets passed down from generations to generations to ease any tensions, aches or worries. After an hour of being pampered you will become happier and in tune with your natural environment. Spa centre is located in the quiet areas of the island where you can unwind to the sounds of birds, the gentle breeze and the soft lapping of waves. They offer a full range of massages, facial and body treatments using only the natural ingredients.

Transfer: the hotel is located on Gan Island, the southernmost Maldivian atoll of Addu beyond the equator line! There are over 500 kilometers to Hulhule International Airport. The transfer is an hour and a half flight on local airlines + a10-minute car ride.

Transfers Terms and Conditions


  • Seaplane transfers are available during daylight hours only. 
  • Guests arriving at Male airport after 3:15pm are recommended to book a domestic flight in advance (depends on resort policy) or an overnight accommodation close by the airport to be transferred to the resort the following morning.
  • Guests departing Malé on an international flight prior to 09:00hrs will be transferred late on the previous afternoon. Accommodation can be booked in Malé at an additional cost.
  • International departure flights should be scheduled after 9:00 am. Departing guests will be transferred to the airport at least 3 hours prior to scheduled international flight departure with last seaplane departure from the island at 3:00pm.
  • Seaplane transfers are managed by a third party company thus it will be subject to availability and may be cancelled due to weather conditions or maintenance needs. In this case, guests may be transferred via Domestic flight (if route exists per each hotel) or guests will need to book an overnight stay in Male at guest’ additional expense.
  • In extraordinary circumstances, luggage may be transported by a later flight (policies & procedures as per TMA regulations). Resort does not take any liability for delaying the guest luggage due to these reasons. 
  • If a guest misses their transfer due to International flight being delayed etc. Guest may opt to pay the supplement for changing the transfer mode (ex: from domestic to seaplane, etc) and this is Subject to availability.
  • Neither WIOTTO nor our Destination Management partner nor resorts are held responsible for any delays or cancellations due to the local seaplane carrier or weather conditions.
  • Baggage allowance is 20kg suitcase and 5kg hand luggage. Excess baggage is chargeable at $5.00 per kg, payable at the airport.
  • International flights must be provided at least 7 days prior to arrival.
  • On departure, schedule of seaplane transfers will be communicated to the guest a night prior to departure from the resort. 
  • Seaplane may stop in 1 or 2 destinations where the time of journey may be extended and guest will be advised prior to take off on flight.
  • 100% cancellation will be applicable in case of no show or cancellation as per cancellation policy.
  • Prices are subject to change without prior notice in accordance with any increases in fuel prices and taxes
