Situated on the north coast of Mauritius, in Calodyne, close to the fishermen’s village of Grand Gaube, Zilwa Attitude hotel, with its 100% Mauritian concept, is different and unique a hymn to Mauritius, a true illustration of its soul and its traditions.

This 4* hotel is the ideal address for holidays full of discoveries, emotions and pleasures, the ideal place to relax, to recharge one’s batteries, to slow down, to share the simple and genuine life of the islanders. Zilwa is the Creole word for “islander”. The Creole language is understood and spoken by all Mauritians and has borrowed and interwoven words and expressions, quaint and amusing, old and modern from languages spoken by all races and cultures living on the island.  

Built in an arc around a beautiful beach, Zilwa Attitude offers a breathtaking view on the 5 islands of the northern coast. A few meters from the shore, Gran Zil and Ti Zil, two very small private islands invite guests to either, relax and enjoy a delicious barbecue at lunch time or a massage at any time during the day.

The 214 rooms have been thought and designed to match the needs and expectations of each guest; in each category, the rooms have their own identity and personality.
 
Written on the walls, naive, fun, poetical and full of wisdom, the “sirandanes” are Creole riddles, playing around with everyday words. The almost real colourful boats painted with gouache are inspired by the Mauritian artist, Malcolm de Chazal as well as the poetry on the cushions are both an invitation to faraway lands. The furniture and coconut fibre carpets made by local craftsmen, the material used in building or decoration are all reminders of the cultural heritage of the island thus extending this strong Mauritian identity to the bedrooms. Last but not least a pair of Dodo flip flops, the traditional ones worn by all Mauritians, are awaiting in your room, they are ideal to walk around the hotel and the country! Wearing them you will feel like a real “zilwa” (islander).

At the mini club, "Ayo The Dodo", our famous dodo bird dressed up as a gentle pirate, is waiting for your children on its boat situated right at the entrance or will accompany them on a treasure hunt on Crusoe’s island.

At the mini club, from 09h00 to 21h00, under the supervision of experienced and caring Family Members, children between the age of 3 and 12, to their great joy, are kept entertained, having fun and being creative. Among many other activities: colouring and cutting out, glass bottom boat trips, treasure hunt, occasional shows, games in and out of the swimming pool and even fun days with a special theme for the day…

The plus : Your children can take their meals at the restaurant with one of the mini club Family Members, thus allowing you both a romantic evening.

Zilwa Attitude with its 5 restaurants offers a blend of spicy and exquisite tastes from all over the world. We call it here in Mauritius “Metisaz”: a delicious mix of Creole, Indian, Asian and European cuisines true to the cultural diversity of the island. Guests will embark on a culinary trip, the port of calls, with their Creole names, being: “Karay”, “Siaw”, “Lor Disab”, “Taba-J” or “Grand Zil”.
