The climate of Indonesia is ideal for a year-round beach holiday in the bosom of amazing nature. Winter is just as hot here. The usual four seasons in Indonesia can be divided into only two - dry (summer) and wet (winter).

The most popular resort islands in Indonesia are Bali, Sumatra and Java.

The weather conditions on the Greater and Lesser Sunda Islands are somewhat different. How can the wet season affect the quality of the holiday? What do the islands of Indonesia offer tourists in the low season? More on these and other points below.

Wet season in Indonesia

In the summer, the islands, of course, have more sunny days and dry nights, but this does not mean that it is better not to fly to Indonesia during other periods. In winter, the weather here is the same warm with an average temperature of 28-29°C during the day and 19-20°C at night. In mountainous areas, for example, in February the air temperature can drop to 15°C. The wet or winter season begins in October and lasts until late March or early April.

  • October. The month that closes the high season in Bali and other "beach" places. In October, the resorts of Indonesia still have dry and warm weather, but it starts to drizzle. In the second half of the month, the probability of showers increases. In Bali, everything is also sunny and there are excellent conditions for swimming in the sea. The water near the coasts is warmed up to 25°С. Tropical Sumatra tends to be somewhat cooler and rainfall can be more intense than other islands.
  • November. With the advent of November, the temperature regime does not change much, so the sea is still the same gentle. The only difference is the amount of precipitation, which increases closer to the beginning of November.
  • December. There is an increasing chance of rainy days and increased humidity. However, in December it is still warm, although there are not many sunny days. The air temperature during the day remains at around 28°C.
  • January. The real rainy season in Indonesia can be found in January. The greatest amount of precipitation covers Sumatra, but in Bali you can catch a couple of clear days. The water in the ocean warms up to 28°C. The air temperature ranges from 27 to 31°C during the day and from 20 to 24°C at night.
  • February. February weather on the islands of Indonesia is very similar to January. Everything is still humid, but warm, on land and in water. The average rainfall reaches 250 mm.
  • March. In March, you can watch how the monsoon rains recede, and the sun comes out more and more often. The number of dry days increases, and the air warms up to 34°C. What can not be said about Sumatra. The rainy season is still going on here at this time.

Winter in Bali

Among the main advantages of a winter holiday in Bali, of course, are the prices. During the wet season, the cost of rest is halved. This applies to tourist hotels, private rentals and even bike rentals. All because of the frequent rains that prevail in Bali from October to March. However, the temperature of air and water practically remain at the same level, but the percentage of humidity increases. It can be suffocatingly hot on the island during the day. After rainstorms, high humidity remains. The sea is restless due to gusty winds, so choosing the best time for swimming can be problematic. But in winter, surfers flock to Bali. To conquer the waves at this time there are all weather conditions.

Average air temperature in Bali in winter: during the day up to 33°С, at night - 23-24°С. The water in the ocean in December warms up to 28-29°C.
