History of Polis
In ancient times, the settlement was called Marion. Little is known about it, although archaeological finds indicate that the area was a fairly developed trading port. The city was later weakened by frequent raids. In the Hellenistic period, Marion is already mentioned as a large settlement of Arsinoe, which was destroyed during the next Arab conquest. Today, Polis is a typical Cypriot town with beautiful architecture, old streets and a cozy atmosphere. Here, just like many centuries ago, they are engaged in fishing and handicrafts.
