  4. Seminyak Resort in Bali: Why You Should Visit

Seminyak in Bali is one of the best places for a vacation on the island, especially if you enjoy active beach holidays. Around the wide sandy beach, there is a huge number of restaurants, spas, shopping centers, sports entertainment, nightclubs, and bars. Seminyak is considered an expensive luxury resort, second only to Nusa Dua. However, there are both hotel complexes with beach clubs and private villas with more budget-friendly prices.

Where is Seminyak

The resort is located in Bali, Indonesia, in the southern part of the island, between the resorts of Kuta (read about this resort in a separate article) and Canggu (one of our articles is also dedicated to this town). This is the southwestern part of the urban agglomeration of Denpasar, which includes Kuta, Seminyak, Canggu, and other resort centers — ideal if you are looking for romantic beach walks at sunset.

Why Seminyak is better than other cities in Bali

It is impossible to say categorically that Seminyak is better than other resorts, although, to be fair, some support this statement. Nevertheless, Seminyak is truly one of the best choices for a holiday on the island. There are several reasons:

  1. Luxurious wide beaches where, to be honest, there are quite a few people, but you will have enough space for privacy. The greatest concentration of people is near the beach bars and restaurants located along the coastline. The bars are surrounded by greenery, followed by a walking path along the coastline and the sandy beach itself. It is wide enough to play volleyball, football, frisbee, etc., and there is enough space to sunbathe and just walk.
  2. The resort’s coastline is dotted with bars, restaurants, and rentals for water sports, especially surfing. All establishments are located close together and in high season can be completely full in the evening.
  3. The sunsets on the beaches of Seminyak are some of the most beautiful in Indonesia. In the evening, bars and restaurants are crowded with tourists, and good establishments will definitely require a table reservation, or you will have to wait in line at the entrance. These are mainly beach bars and restaurants, so you do not need to worry too much about evening attire. Although there are such restaurants in Bali, they are often located a little deeper than beach life.
  4. Seminyak is located between the famous beach resorts of Kuta and Canggu, and if you want to visit other cities during your holiday, you should choose Seminyak. This way, your logistics will be simplified.
  5. Legian Street starts in Kuta and goes through Seminyak. This is a famous tourist route for lovers of shopping, restaurants, shops, and various interesting things. Be sure to visit! There are shops with local goods and souvenirs, as well as brand boutiques.
  6. The resort of Seminyak differs from many other towns in Bali by its special charm, which you feel but cannot initially unravel. It’s all about the little things: the interiors of restaurants, which you want to examine, cozy souvenir shops — everything is somehow made with soul. In general, Seminyak’s atmosphere is closer to European resort towns. There are more modern buildings and establishments due to the novelty of the resort — it began to be developed relatively recently.
  7. Nightlife in Seminyak is a separate chapter, centered around some of the most famous nightclubs not only in Bali but often in all of Indonesia. This is ShiShi (Jl. Petitenget No.208X, Kerobokan Kelod, Kec. Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361) — a large establishment with bars, a restaurant, a nightclub, and, notably, a dress code, which is rare for Bali. Be sure to visit! Also worth a visit is the La Favela club (Jalan Laksamana Oberoi No.177X, Seminyak, Kec. Kuta, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80561). There is also a restaurant and a nightclub here. Both places are very popular and crowded.
  8. Cozy streets and beaches. You can find these in Seminyak too. Overall, this resort wonderfully combines a party center, a place for relaxation, and a beach mecca.
  9. Beach clubs in Seminyak. Not all resorts in Bali have them, and here they are considered the best. These are closed areas with beaches, pools, bars, and often attributes of night bars. If you are interested in such establishments, pay attention to the most famous ones — Tropicola, Potato Head, Mrs. Sippy.

Beaches in Seminyak

Next, we will tell you about the beaches of the Seminyak resort, starting from Kuta and going up to the Canggu resort to the north. In the same direction, the sand changes from lighter to dark gray on Batu Belig.

  • Padma Beach — is the closest to Kuta. Quite a quiet place compared to other beaches. Not very popular;
  • The main beach of the resort is called Seminyak. Perhaps the most crowded — it is here that there is a large number of bars and restaurants, especially designed for contemplating the sunset. It is literally a magnet for tourists;
  • Double Six Beach is quieter than Seminyak Beach. It is more suitable for romantic walks and swimming with children;
  • Petitengat Beach is not noisy in terms of establishments, but there are many people here in the evening. Everyone comes to capture the best Bali sunset. The beach is popular with locals;
  • Batu Belig Beach is the last one if you move from Kuta to Canggu. By the way, it is on this beach that the famous Tropicola beach club is located, which was mentioned above. It is also a quieter beach, very beautiful, ideal for spectacular photos, especially at sunset. Where would Seminyak be without it!

Surfing on the beaches of Seminyak

If you choose from the three nearby — Kuta, Seminyak, Canggu — it is better to surf in Kuta or Canggu. However, if you are a beginner, Seminyak will do, and you can rent a board or take lessons literally at every step. There are plenty of such offers on the beach. Board rental costs between 4-10 dollars.
