What can you import into Indonesia?

Travelers over 18 years of age can import the following into Indonesia duty-free:

• 200 cigarettes, 50 cigars or 200 g of tobacco .
• 1 liter of alcoholic beverages .
• A reasonable amount of perfume for personal use .
• Gifts up to $250 per person or $1,000 per family.

Prohibited items at Indonesian airports

Certain items are prohibited or restricted for import or export into Indonesia. These typically include goods related to social, health, environmental, wildlife, and security matters. Below are some of these items.

• narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances;
• pornographic and obscene materials;
• counterfeit and pirated products, as well as goods that violate intellectual property rights;
• antiques;
• model aircraft (e.g. toy remote-controlled helicopters) that operate on a wide-band radio channel due to possible interference with security agency communications networks;
• Indonesian coins covered by the Antiques and Art Treasures Act of 1972 ;
• maps and literature that show Indonesia's external borders incorrectly, in the opinion of the Indonesian government;
• chemicals listed in Schedule 1 of the 1993 UN Chemical Weapons Convention;
• Wildlife items including certain seashells, beef, animal fat/oil, exotic birds, wild animals and their products.

• live birds and animals, including domestic ones, as well as animal skins;
• plants, fruits, seeds;
• any goods for commercial purposes;
• gold and silver, except jewelry (for import only);
• currency exceeding established limits;
• medicines;
• silkworm seeds and cocoons;
• vintage items, replicas of antiques or weapons;
• sand and soil;
• whole human blood plasma;
• sandalwood (except handicrafts and oil).

When exporting items of historical or artistic value, or certain animals and plants, it is necessary to obtain permits from the relevant government agencies.
