Things to do in Mauritius as a couple
In Mauritius, a honeymoon means the bright colors of the tropics combined with the island's rich culture. You will find plenty of romantic adventures here.
Helicopter flight
A helicopter flight over the Underwater Waterfall is probably the most powerful experience you can have in Mauritius. Book a private helicopter tour over the Le Morne peninsula. From above, you will see the famous optical illusion - a giant waterfall that seems to plunge into the depths of the ocean. It is an incredible sight that truly takes your breath away.

Private island for a day
Feel like the stars of a romantic film by renting a small secluded island for the whole day, such as Ile des Deux Cocos, or simply an uninhabited sandbank. You will be taken there by private boat, left alone with the ocean, given sun loungers and snorkeling equipment, and at the arranged time you will be served an exquisite lunch from the chef with chilled champagne.

Sunset catamaran cruise
What could be more romantic? Set sail from Grand Baie in the north or from Black River in the west. Enjoy the sea views and the sunset as the sun sinks into the ocean, painting the sky and clouds in incredible shades.

Swimming with dolphins
Early in the morning, at sunrise, head out by small boat or speedboat to Tamarin Bay to meet a pod of spinner dolphins. Being close to these graceful creatures brings unforgettable emotions.

Waterfall hike with a picnic
Go on a tropical hike together, for example to the Chamarel waterfalls or deep into Black River Gorges National Park. Many trails lead to secluded natural pools where you can swim in cool, clear water far from everyone else. Ask your hotel for a picnic basket and enjoy an unforgettable lunch at the foot of a waterfall.

"Forest therapy" - shinrin-yoku
Some hotels located in nature reserves, such as Heritage Resorts in Bel Ombre - Heritage Awali Golf & Spa Resort and Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort - offer the unique experience of "forest bathing". This is a slow, meditative walk through endemic forest with a guide that teaches you to "listen" to nature.

Activities for two: create shared memories
- Creole cooking classes. Together with a chef or in an authentic home setting (table d’hôte), learn how to prepare fragrant Mauritian curry, spicy sauces or desserts made with local rum. It often ends with a romantic candlelit dinner where you taste what you have lovingly prepared.
- Diving for beginners. Your first introductory dive takes place in the calm, shallow and safe waters of the lagoon, with full one-to-one supervision from an experienced instructor.
- Golf for two. Mauritius is a world-class destination for golfers, with courses so beautiful they take your breath away. Even if you have never held a club before, take a private lesson, for example at Anahita or Ile aux Cerfs Golf Club.
- Horse riding clubs in Mauritius offer romantic rides that become the setting for incredibly beautiful photos and memories.
- Spa rituals for couples: luxury spas in Mauritius offer special rituals for two. This may include a synchronized massage with aromatic oils, a shared bath with flower petals and coconut milk, or multi-hour wellness programs.

Hotels for a honeymoon in Mauritius
Choosing the right hotel is a key part of the perfect honeymoon. Mauritius has a wide selection of first-class hotels.
LUX Le Morne
It is located in one of the most scenic parts of the island, at the foot of the majestic Le Morne mountain, a UNESCO site. The hotel consists of cozy pavilions scattered through a lush tropical garden. There are 149 rooms and suites in total. For honeymooners, the Sunset Junior Suites are ideal, as they are located closest to the ocean. They have their own balcony or terrace with a direct view of the sunset.
Five restaurants offer a variety of cuisine, from Mediterranean to Thai. One of the highlights is the option to order a "feet in the sand" dinner under the stars or breakfast in a secluded gazebo by the water. There is also a cozy spa with pavilions for couples' treatments, a sauna, a hammam and a pool. The hotel regularly hosts open-air movie nights on the beach, with soft beanbags and popcorn. And there is a fun extra detail - every day, bottles with surprises are hidden around the grounds (a cocktail voucher, spa discount and more), turning a walk around the hotel into an entertaining quest.

Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort
The hotel is designed in an elegant colonial style reminiscent of a wealthy 19th-century sugar plantation estate. It is perfect for couples, combining sophistication with a wide range of activities. There are 158 spacious suites with wooden floors, four-poster beds and large verandas overlooking the river or the ocean. For maximum privacy, a new adults-only wing was opened in 2018, featuring suites with access to private pools. Each suite comes with a personal butler.
Guests have access to the full estate infrastructure, including 12 restaurants, with the option to dine at Le Château de Bel Ombre. There are two spas, an 18-hole championship golf course and the Frederica nature reserve for hiking and picnics. The hotel also places a strong focus on wellness. Rum and wine tastings are held here regularly as well.

Paradise Cove Boutique Hotel
This is one of the best and most intimate boutique hotels on the island. It is part of Small Luxury Hotels of the World and is designed exclusively for couples. The hotel is small and very private. Its 75 rooms are decorated in a light bohemian style using natural materials. It is best to choose the Club Junior Suite or Club Senior Suite categories, which include access to the club lounge with snacks and drinks throughout the day.
Paradise Cove has 4 restaurants and 3 bars. Its main signature feature is the chance to order dinner on one of the small pontoons stretching into the lagoon, or on a secluded peninsula at The Peninsula restaurant.
The "love nests" are the hotel's calling card. These are secluded round shell-shaped daybeds for two, hidden under thatched roofs in the shade of the coconut grove throughout the property.

La Pirogue Mauritius
A unique bohemian and very authentic atmosphere awaits on one of the island's best beaches, Flic en Flac. The hotel consists of separate bungalows scattered through a vast 14-hectare coconut grove.
Around 250 secluded bungalows resemble traditional fishing pirogues. Each has its own terrace. Guests at La Pirogue can freely use all the facilities of the neighboring, livelier Sugar Beach hotel, which doubles the choice of restaurants, bars and pools. You can order a romantic dinner right on the beach or breakfast on board a real pirogue.

Constance Prince Maurice
The hotel is set within its own private 60-hectare nature reserve on a secluded stretch of the north-east coast. It was designed according to feng shui principles, where water and light play the main role. There are no standard rooms here, only spacious suites and villas set among lush greenery or, even more romantically, standing on stilts directly above the lagoon and its mangroves.
The floating restaurant Le Barachois is its signature feature and possibly the most romantic restaurant in Mauritius. It consists of five separate pontoons floating in a quiet lagoon, lit only by candles and the stars.
Constance Prince Maurice is also home to one of the largest and most impressive wine cellars. The spa is tucked away in a peaceful corner of the hotel and offers exclusive treatments in pavilions for couples. Guests also have access to two 18-hole golf courses at the neighboring Constance Belle Mare Plage.
