Overwater villas differ not only in size and level of luxury. Some are located above a calm shallow lagoon, others offer convenient access to the house reef, while the most private residences may be set away from the resort's main island.

Direct access to the ocean is now available in many categories. But a private infinity pool, a large terrace, several bedrooms, a separate kitchen, personal butler service or unusual architectural solutions already significantly change both the level of comfort and the cost of the stay.

Kudadoo has only 15 overwater residences - 13 with one bedroom and two with two bedrooms. The one-bedroom villas cover 310 m², the two-bedroom villas 390 m², and each has a large terrace over the ocean and a private pool of 44 m². The space is designed so that the living areas almost continue onto the open terrace overlooking the lagoon.

The underwater world around the island deserves special attention. Kudadoo's official website names coral reefs as one of the resort's advantages: guided snorkeling and diving, scooter dives, trips to green turtle habitats are available, while grey reef sharks, rays, manta rays and large Napoleon wrasse can be found in the waters of Lhaviyani Atoll. Trial dives and PADI training are available for beginners.

Gili Lankanfushi is located in North Malé Atoll, just a 20-minute speedboat ride from Velana International Airport. All 45 villas and residences of the resort are located over the water, so the proximity of the ocean is felt in every accommodation category. The villas have spacious open terraces, relaxation areas above the lagoon and direct access to the water.

It is worth paying attention to the Crusoe Residences with an area of 250 m². The villas stand separately in the lagoon, a short distance from the island, and can only be reached by boat. Guests have their own motorboat, a terrace with nets over the water and sun loungers, a water hammock, direct access to the ocean and a separate rooftop terrace. In the Sunset Crusoe Residence you can watch sunsets from the upper level, and sometimes manta rays and other marine life as well.

The resort's most impressive option is the The Private Reserve. This huge 1,700 m² residence is located in the middle of the lagoon, about 500 metres from the main island. It has an infinity pool, a private spa pavilion with sauna and steam room, a gym, a cinema, spacious terraces right by the water and a slide that takes you from the upper level directly into the lagoon. A private boat is provided for travel between the residence and the island.

Conrad Maldives Rangali Island offers several categories of spacious villas above the ocean: from spacious Grand Water Villas to Two Bedroom Rangali Ocean Pavilion with Pool, covering more than 450 m². Many overwater villas have private pools, spacious terraces and direct access to the lagoon.

The resort's most unusual option is the The Muraka, a two-level residence with the main bedroom about 5 metres below sea level. Through a transparent 180-degree dome, you can watch fish directly from the bed. Above the water there are two more bedrooms, a living room, dining area and a terrace with an infinity pool; the levels are connected by stairs and a lift.

A house reef is available for snorkeling, while the resort's location in South Ari makes it possible to take sea excursions in search of whale sharks and manta rays. An important detail for families: most overwater villas on Rangali Island are intended for guests aged 16 and over, but Rangali Ocean Pavilion is also suitable for stays with children.

The most unusual overwater villas at Waldorf Astoria are located away from the main island. Stella Maris Ocean Villas are surrounded by the ocean and can only be reached by boat. Inside there is a bedroom with panoramic glazing and a separate living room, while outside there is a large terrace, an infinity pool and several places to relax by the water. This option is primarily for a couple.

If isolation is not essential, the choice of overwater accommodation is much wider. Overwater Villa with Pool has an area of 283 m², a private pool and access to the lagoon. Two- and three-bedroom residences are available for families and groups. The three-bedroom Overwater Villa covering more than 1,100 m² has two pools.

You can explore the ocean while snorkeling and diving, or take a ride in a glass-bottom boat. Paddleboards, kayaks, catamarans and private yachts for exclusive trips are also available.
