  4. Cyprus hotel prices: how much does a holiday on the island cost

How much money to take with you to Cyprus and what will result in a sea holiday on the island in a season.

Cyprus is a summer destination where they go to relax by the sea. And sea holidays, especially in European countries, are rarely budgetary: in the season, price tags go up. How much money do you need to have a good rest in Cyprus?

The cost of renting a home

On average, the cost of a studio for two in Cyprus per season is 40-50 euros. In July and August, prices go up and often the price tag starts from 60-70 euros. Larnaca can be called the most budgetary, and Limassol is the most expensive city for renting housing. Cities dictate higher prices. And the cheapest way to stay is in small resort villages such as Polis. This is also due to the fact that more budget housing options are leaving immediately. There are hostels, but not many.

In Limassol, a double room or apartment in high season can be found for 50 euros. Party Ayia Napa is cheaper: the price starts in the summer from 40 euros. But you can relax cheaper in the off-season. Paphos Paphos with respectable hotels offers summer price tags from 40 euros for apartments.

Apartments and villas in Cyprus are popular. Many guests prefer them to hotels where there is no private kitchen, and there is only one room in the room. The equipped kitchen will have everything you need.

There are also all-inclusive hotels in Cyprus. The cost of rest in them is much higher than in countries such as Turkey or Egypt. On average, all inclusive in a four-star hotel will cost from 250 euros per day, and in a five-star hotel at least 300 euros. The result - from 1.5-2 thousand euros per week for two per room. Not all hotels have their own beach and, as a rule, umbrellas and sun loungers are provided for an extra charge.

Sometimes you can get nice discounts. For example, a five-star hotel that costs 250 euros per day will offer its service for 185 euros. Discount offers often appear a couple of weeks before the trip.

Watch out for discounts on Cyprus hotels in the WIOTTO catalog.

Car rental in Cyprus and prices

You can rent a car in advance or upon arrival in Cyprus. If you are going to leave by car directly from the airport, it is better to book a car in advance. In the season, there simply may not be a car of interest to you. If you are going to rent a car upon arrival in the city for a few days, then this can be done right on the street, not far from the hotel or apartment. Offices offering rentals are found at almost every step.

car will be delivered to the hotel or apartment. "Street" offices have their own charms and disadvantages. You can find a car without a deposit, but in this case, the rental price is 25% higher. It is more convenient to choose a car through aggregator sites, which automatically look for the cheapest option. So you save and choose a service by rating.

Rental price in Cyprus:

  • Suzuki Splash, 1 liter on the mechanics - 19 euros per day (150 euros for 8 days)
  • Daihatsu Mira - 20 euros per day
  • Nissan March - 21 euros (170 euros for 8 days)
  • Ford Fiesta - 22 euros (176 for 8 days)
  • Nissan Cube - 20-25 euros (200 euros for 8 days)
  • Suzuki SUV Swift - 25.5 euros per day

On average, the cost of renting a week will cost about 150-200 euros, depending on the class of the car. But do not forget: you need to follow the rules so as not to receive additional fines. For example, talking on the phone while driving - 150 euros. The presence of alcohol in the blood is allowed up to 0.22 ppm. These are two glasses of wine or 100 g of strong alcohol. But if the alcohol in the blood is above the norm, then the fine is from 125 euros.

Gasoline. Please note that Cyprus has an original refueling system. In the evening, from 20:00 to 07:00, there are no employees at the gas station: full self-service. Therefore, when paying for gasoline on the card, 50 euros are preliminarily blocked. If the total amount is less, then the balance is returned within a couple of weeks.

During the day, just tell the gas station employees the amount you want to refuel. Or ask for a full tank. The cost of gasoline in 2022: 1.08 euros per liter of 95 and 1.085 euros for the 98th.

Insurance. If you are planning to visit Northern Cyprus with a rental car, please purchase additional insurance. But it covers only liability to "third parties": in case of damage to the rented car, you will have to pay for repairs yourself. The office for purchasing insurance is located in front of the passport control area at all borders with Northern Cyprus. The exception is the checkpoint located in Nicosia. Opening hours: from 8:00 am to 05:00 pm, in the capital - from 8:00 am to 00:00 am. The cost is 20 euros for 3 days.

To rent a car for a week, budget from 150 euros and at least 30 euros for gasoline, depending on your travel plans around the island.
