Holidays in Mauritius depend on where you stay - surfers like explosive waves, while someone is looking for a quiet serene lagoon for snorkeling. Each part of the island has its own character, its own rhythm and its own atmosphere. Choosing a region is, in fact, choosing a scenario for your holiday. Will it be a lively holiday with cocktails at sunset, secluded relaxation on a wild coast, or full immersion in nature with hiking in the mountains.

West coast: sunsets, dolphins and active life
This is the part of the island most protected from winds, so there is almost always ideal weather for a beach holiday here. The west is the golden mean: nature, entertainment, and the most beautiful sunsets on the island. The best west coast beaches: Flic en Flac - a long, lively, but at the same time very cozy beach with lots of little restaurants, as well as Le Morne - incredibly photogenic, with crystal-clear water.

What to do
- Watch the legendary sunsets. Every evening the sky here turns into a fire show. The best places for this are the beaches of Flic en Flac and Le Morne.
- Swim with dolphins. It is in the west, in Tamarin Bay, that every morning you can go on a boat excursion to see pods of dolphins in their natural environment. This is often combined with a trip to the scenic Île aux Bénitiers.
- Go hiking. This is where Black River Gorges National Park is located - a huge forest massif with waterfalls, monkeys and dozens of trails. And climbing the majestic Le Morne Brabant mountain will give the most breathtaking views of the lagoon.
- Kitesurfing. The lagoon at the foot of Le Morne is one of the most popular places in the world for kitesurfing. Even if you do not ride, just watching dozens of colorful kites is already a pleasure.
- Explore Chamarel. Not far from the coast are the famous Seven Coloured Earths and the impressive Chamarel waterfall.
