Fregate Island: the rebirth of a legend
After a long reconstruction that has lasted since 2022, this private island is preparing for a grand reopening in autumn 2026. Fregate is not just a hotel on a private island, but a large nature reserve. The Seychelles magpie-robin was saved from extinction here, and the number of giant Aldabra tortoises on Fregate has exceeded 3,500. In its new version, the island will become a benchmark of "invisible" service and absolute privacy.

Infrastructure on Fregate Island
On the huge territory of 220 hectares, there will be only 14 villas with pools and 3 exclusive estates. At most, only 76 guests can stay on the island, served by a team of more than 200 people. The centre of life will be the renewed Plantation House: here there will be an open farm-to-table kitchen, a museum of the island’s history, a library, an art gallery and the largest wine cellar in the Indian Ocean. For those renting The Owner's Estate, there is a private spa and a personal yacht jetty.
What to do on the island
- explore 7 beaches that regularly appear in the lists of the best in the world;
- practise "forest therapy";
- take detox rituals and cryotherapy in the new wellness complex;
- in the evenings - tastings at the distillery or cocktails at the Sunset Bar on the highest point of the island, Mount Signal.

The Residences at Meliá Seychelles: the first hotel with a rooftop bar
The Spanish hotel giant Meliá Hotels & Resorts is entering the Seychelles in a big way. This will be one of the few projects in the Seychelles that combines a hotel and branded residences. The opening is planned for 2026, creating a "city inside a resort", where everything from shopping to medical services is close at hand. The main building is designed so that from most windows there is a view of the azure ocean surface and moored yachts.

Resort infrastructure
One of the few rooftop bars in the Seychelles will appear here. From the tables there will be a panoramic view of elite Eden Island and the Sainte Anne Marine Park. AVANI+ Barbarons Seychelles - a renovated hotel on Mahé
The hotel was under major reconstruction for a long time, but after a global renovation in 2024 it completely changed its image. If before it was simply a good beach complex, now it is a space in the style of tropical modernism. The interior design is dominated by light shades, natural wood and bright accents of Seychelles art. The signature feature of the renovated resort is the creation of the atmosphere of a social hub. Everything here is designed for communication: open terraces, shared lounge zones and a living space concept where there are no clear borders between the lobby, bar and beach.
The main feature of AVANI+ Barbarons is its location on the western coast of Mahé, with the most beautiful sunsets in the Seychelles. In addition, the hotel is famous for its beach, which in the season of the south-east monsoon attracts surfing enthusiasts.

AVANI+ Barbarons Seychelles
Complex infrastructure
- The hotel has 192 rooms and suites. All of them have balconies or terraces with views of the ocean or tropical gardens.
- An outdoor pool surrounded by stylish chill-out zones.
- Separate relaxation zones in the shade of tropical greenery.
- Three dining concepts. Petit Chef restaurant offers international cuisine and themed dinners. Pti-Bazar specialises in Creole cuisine, and the beach bar-restaurant Somewhere has an extensive menu and cocktail list.
What to do at the hotel
AVANI is located directly on the shore of Barbarons Bay. The beach here is wide and sandy, but it is worth remembering that on this side of the island the ocean can be rough. The signature AvaniSpa offers treatments based on local oils and herbs. There is a modern fitness centre and an outdoor yoga studio. Creole cooking masterclasses and water activities are available - kayaking, snorkelling and surfing lessons. You can head out to explore Morne Seychellois.
How to get there: the drive from the airport takes about 30 minutes.
