One week in Seychelles: itinerary ideas and hotels

Your whole route in Seychelles depends entirely on the island where you stay. Many sights are spread out, and each island offers its own unique experience. We suggest a one-week holiday plan in three versions, because there are three main islands in Seychelles with tourist infrastructure and plenty of options - Mahé, Praslin and La Digue.

Hotels in Seychelles are available for booking on Wiotto.

Holiday on Mahé

Mahé is the main island of Seychelles, the one you arrive on when you fly to Seychelles. It is the ideal option if you do not want to spend extra time and money on transfers to other islands. Besides, a holiday on Mahé will be the most varied - forest walks, national parks, nature reserves, excursions… Most of the main attractions of Seychelles are concentrated on Mahé.

  • Pros: the biggest choice of hotels, restaurants and activities. No need to spend time and money on extra flights or ferries after arrival.
  • Cons: excursions to the neighboring islands, Praslin and La Digue, will need to be booked separately.

Day 1: Arrival and relaxation.

On the first day of your holiday on Mahé, you arrive and take a transfer to your hotel. After that - time to adapt. Relax by the pool or on your hotel's beach. For example, at famous Beau Vallon or secluded Petite Anse.

Day 2: Getting to know the island.

Spend the day on the beaches. Visit Anse Intendance with its powerful waves, and the calmer Anse Takamaka. Most of the famous Instagram-worthy beaches of Seychelles are concentrated on Mahé.

Day 3: One-day tour.

Book a one-day tour in advance - all operators offer them, and in Seychelles this is the main type of entertainment. You will be picked up from the hotel, taken to the port, and then you will head off on your trip. The duration may vary depending on the tour program. Do not miss:

  • Tour to Praslin: visit to the famous Vallée de Mai park, where the legendary Seychelles coco de mer palm grows.
  • Tour to La Digue: a trip to the small charming island, to L'Union Estate park and Anse Source d'Argent beach.

Day 4: Sea trip.

Go on a sea trip to Sainte Anne Marine National Park. Tours usually include snorkeling in several spots, landing on Moyenne Island and a barbecue lunch. You will see coral reefs and plenty of colorful fish.

Day 5: Hiking and rum.

Choose one of the walking trails on the incredibly green island of Mahé. For example, Copolia Trail or Morne Blanc Trail. These scenic trails are a common choice for tourists on Mahé, and almost anyone can do them. From the top there are stunning views of the ocean and other islands. After the hike, reward yourself with a trip to the Takamaka rum distillery for a tour and tasting.

Day 6: North of the island and the capital Victoria.

Rest at the hotel after the busy days. Then head to the capital of Seychelles - Victoria. See the Clock Tower and walk around the local market. Be sure to drive along the scenic mountain road Sans Souci Road to the Mission Lodge viewpoint for the best views.

Day 7: Rest, preparing for departure.

A slow breakfast, one last swim in the ocean, buying souvenirs and the road to the airport.

Holiday on Praslin Island

If you stay on the second largest island of Seychelles, in one week you can see many attractions of Praslin and visit fantastic beaches!

  • Pros: you stay close to some of the best beaches in the world - Anse Lazio and Anse Georgette. The nature is simply fabulous. A trip to La Digue and Curieuse Island, the island of tortoises, from here is short.
  • Cons: you need to get there from Mahé (a 15-minute flight or a one-hour ferry). Fewer restaurants and shops than on the main island.

Day 1: Arrival on the island.

After landing on Mahé, you immediately transfer to a 15-minute Air Seychelles flight to Praslin (you can also take a boat, around one hour on the way). Check in to your hotel and head to Anse Volbert beach. It is a lively place with cafés, diving centers and calm water.

Day 2: Vallée de Mai reserve.

Drive to Vallée de Mai National Park. This reserve on Praslin is protected by UNESCO. Here grows the symbol of Seychelles - the famous coco de mer palm with its giant fruits. Be sure to take a guide - they will tell you the legends about these amazing nuts and help you find the rare black parrot. After lunch, head to Anse Lazio: it is among the most beautiful beaches in the world!

Day 3: Meeting the giant tortoises of Seychelles.

Book a sea excursion to Curieuse Island. Giant tortoises walk freely here and do not mind a photo session. After meeting them, you will take a walk through the mangroves and enjoy a barbecue on the beach. On the way back there will be a snorkeling stop near St Pierre islet.

Day 4: Tour to La Digue.

Take the morning ferry to La Digue (15 minutes). On the island you can rent a bicycle and head to L'Union Estate park to see the famous Anse Source d'Argent beach. Have lunch in a local Creole restaurant, then ride to the northern beach of the island, from where there is a wonderful view of Praslin.

Day 5: Fond Ferdinand reserve.

An alternative to Vallée de Mai is Fond Ferdinand nature reserve. It is larger than Vallée de Mai, less crowded, and from its viewpoint there is a panoramic view over all Praslin and the neighboring islands.

Visit Black Pearl Ocean Farm - the only pearl farm in Seychelles. Here you can learn how pearls are grown and buy unique jewelry.

Day 6: Getting to know Mahé.

When planning your departure, you can book a hotel nearby or in the capital Victoria, not far from the airport. Then set off to explore the main island of Mahé. After lunch, walk around the city: see the Clock Tower and soak up the atmosphere of Sir Selwyn Selwyn-Clarke Market. Visit the famous Beau Vallon beach.

Day 7: Panoramas of Mahé and flight home.

In the morning, before the heat, drive up to Mission Lodge viewpoint for stunning views. Then go south and spend a couple of hours on the wild Anse Intendance beach. After lunch, head to the airport for your evening flight.

Holiday on La Digue Island

It is an eco-island that is in many ways unlike all the others. La Digue is where you should go for authentic Seychelles.

  • Pros: this is the most authentic inhabited island of Seychelles, where you can feel peace and touch the true Creole way of life.
  • Cons: service and infrastructure are not as developed as on the other islands. The longest transfer (ferry from Mahé, then change to another ferry on Praslin).

Day 1: Arrival on the island.

The transfer to La Digue takes time, but the island is worth it. You may be met by ox-drawn carts and taken across the island to your hotel. On arrival, rent a bicycle at once - your main companion for the week. Check in and take your first ride through La Passe village.

Day 2: The most beautiful beach in the world.

Dedicate the day to L'Union Estate park. Here you will see giant tortoises in an enclosure, an old plantation house, coconut oil production and, of course, reach Anse Source d'Argent beach. This is the calling card of Seychelles. The coast really is considered one of the most beautiful in the world. Explore its coves and be sure to watch the sunset here.

Day 3: Exploring the island.

A day for active leisure. Ride your bicycle to the other side of the island, to Grand Anse beach. From there, walk along the paths to the even more secluded beaches of Petite Anse and Anse Cocos (the latter has a natural pool protected by rocks). This is Seychelles in its purest form.

Day 4: Trip to Praslin.

This is a must-do trip! In the morning, take the ferry to Praslin. Right at the port, take a taxi or bus to Vallée de Mai park to see those famous coco de mer palms. After your walk in the park, have lunch and, if there is time left, go to Anse Lazio beach.

Day 5: Excursions on water or in the air.

Spend the day on an exciting excursion. You can book a snorkeling tour to the nearby islands of Coco and Félicité. The underwater world here is very rich. If you feel inspired, hike up to Belle Vue (Eagle's Nest). This is the highest point of the island, with a 360-degree panorama. At the top there is a small restaurant where you can sit with a drink and a beautiful view.

Day 6: Farewell to La Digue and transfer to Mahé.

In the morning, ride to the north of the island to Anse Patates and Anse Severe beaches. Take one last swim. During the day, take the ferry to Mahé. After checking into a hotel near the airport, you can spend the evening walking along the waterfront of the artificial island Eden Island, with its marina and restaurants.

Day 7: The capital, the mountains and departure.

Visit the market in Victoria, then go up to Mission Lodge for a panoramic view. This way you will see Mahé in all its unique beauty. After lunch - the road to the airport.
