Forest trails and trekking
Dense tropical forests, scenic mountain trails, and panoramic views of the coast. On Mahé you can see rare species of plants and birds, and the beaches are surrounded by granite rocks. Many bays on the island are ideal for snorkeling, walks, and watching sunsets. Among the great variety, five of the most interesting routes stand out.
Morne Seychellois National Park
Morne Seychellois is the largest nature reserve on Mahé. There are scenic trekking routes through dense tropical forests, and the viewpoints offer stunning views of the island and the ocean. The park is located in the central and western part of Mahé and covers about 20% of its territory. The main peak of the park is Morne Seychellois Mountain, 905 meters high, the highest point of the Seychelles Islands.
If you love walking and trekking routes, this place is ideal. Morne Seychellois is not a park in the European sense with asphalt paths, signs every 100 meters, and cafes. It is rather a real tropical national park with equipped natural routes.
There are popular marked trails here - Copolia Trail and Morne Blanc Trail, signs at the main forks, wooden decking or reinforcements on difficult sections, and viewpoints.
No special preparation is needed, comfortable shoes are enough. These are not wild jungles and not difficult trekking, but rather beautiful nature walks with stunning views of the island and the ocean.
